I'm having what is probably a basic and easily solved VisualBoyAdvance problem. The emulator runs...at 150% to 250% on GBA games. Oddly, the older it is, the slower it runs. GB is usually 110%. I have looked, and I find no clear to me way of cutting down the performance speed. Oh, I should also say that I use VBAExpress frontend...1.2...Beta. >.< That MIGHT not help. EDIT: I found the TRUE VBA....so now I have 1.80 running. Now....only problem is the sound is a liiiittle crappy. Anything I can do to change this? Edited by Dark Huntress, Mar 19 2009, 03:18 PM.

I might be using a different version, but unless they've completely overhauled the menus...

I tried..and it's still fuzzy and slightly garbled. >.< Does having the throttle on at 100% screw with the sound? |

Maybe. I tried recreating your example with Golden Sun, and while the sound didn't garble much, sometimes static would come up. Try making it "no throttle" instead and see how it goes. EDIT: If that doesn't work, try frame skipping, which improves performance (and therefore, sound) on lower-ends. Edited by CrazyDitto, Mar 20 2009, 04:26 PM.

In my experience, throttle does screw around with the sound. I don't know if this is accurate or not, but I believe that when you apply a throttle, it's not just throttling frames and commands, but everything. So if you want to maintain a 100%, VBA wants to maintain a certain standard for the FPS and processing speed, for which it may sacrifice sound quality. I concur that throttle should be set to "No Throttle." Also as CD is bringing out, if that doesn't work, try experimenting with the frames. I've always used the "2" setting with no problems. If that still doesn't work, try looking at the actual emulator settings. Some of those that are completely unrelated to sound seem to cascade into other subroutines like sound. |
