Recruitment Campaign; With a Prize!

Right, so this was meant to be released along with a new skin option, so as to spark a little enthusiasm for the prize, but there's this one little glitch I can't quite pinpoint with the new skin, so it looks like it's not going to happen that way.

Anyways, this Recruitment Campaign is just what it sounds like: We want members, and we want intelligent, pleasant members who will stay at the Comm and contribute to the community. This will also be a contest. So for all the members here, the job entails getting more people to join the community than other members do, so you can win the prize. There are a few catches though.

1.) Recruits should be people that will contribute to the community and be lasting members.
2.) No multiple accounts. Those caught doing this will be banned, no questions, no excuses, period.

The prize will be the privilege of being added to the skin managers list, which will enable the manager limited Administrator Control Panel rights so that they can help me design an entirely new skin however they wish (meaning, the theme of the skin, the colours, the images, the buttons, etcetera, will all be dictated by the winner).

The contest will begin July 1st, and will run the entire month. To insure that recruits meet criteria #1 listed above, an unreleased waiting period will succeed the ending of the contest phase. At the end of the waiting period, the staff will discuss which of the new recruits that have (A) been the most active, (B) been the most contributing and up-building to the community, and (C) have followed the rules best. Whichever member recruits the most new members who do the best in those areas will win, and be announced and receive their prize at the end of the waiting period.

Here are some tips/things to keep in mind when recruiting new members and trying to win:
-Invite people who actually ENJOY foruming, and who are computer-inclined people.
-Do not invite people who--though your friends in real life--have no real interest in the things that go on here at the Comm.
-Invite people who have either been to forums before, or have experience with blogging. If you bring people who speak constant leetspeak or chatspeak with no sense of punctuation, you will severely hurt your own chances at winning.
-Do not invite people with the intention of keeping them here only until you win the prize. If it becomes obvious that you've done this, even after the prize has been awarded, it may be taken away. If you have to keep reminding people about the Comm, it may be a good indicator that they aren't really all that interested, and should probably just be let go.
-Recall what the Comm needs, and what the Comm has already. For instance, the Comm has always been rather dry in Serious Debate and Coding/Hacking, so if you know people who are into that sort of thing, invite them. On the other hand, the Comm is largely invested in Written RolePlaying, so if you know someone who likes to write, it may be good to invite them too.
-Invite people who are firm in their opinions, but know how to get along with others. If one of your recruits starts flaming another member, you can bet your odds of winning will be hurt severely.

Questions are more than welcome.

So, do we just tell the recruits to post in their introduction threads who invited them?

That same issue struck me last night, I'm glad you asked.

Yes.

Well, today's the last day. Seeing as the only ones who managed to recruit anybody were myself and Paul, both already staffers with access to the prize, it seems all you lazy bums out there lost.

"Special"

There's an additional announcement feature that redirects people to the announcement on every forum section you enter. It's at the top before you look at topics. I think people just get used to it.

Gee, why hadn't I thought of that? I guess I must have been thinking that the normal announcement thread, the board-top announcement that stayed up for around two weeks, the bulk email to each and every member, and my constantly chatting about it in the week leading up to it would have given it away. Silly me, obviously I didn't get the word out enough.

Something witty...

It's also worth noting that the Announcements board is described as the "Must Read Board". You should be looking to see if there are any new announcements any time you show up. The rest were more of a courtesy.

No need to depreciate yourself by pointing it out, it happens to everybody.
