[Enter Zeth] Hey guys. I'm sure all of you who will be joining here at the beginning already know all of us, but for those new ones, we are the staff thus far. As for myself, I am the Root Administrator of the Comm, and my real first name is Ethan. If you have any problems, I'm not usually all that hard to reach, and unless some catastrophe strikes my router or wireless adapter (it has, regrettably, happened before), I'll always leave a note in the Check In/Check Out thread when I'm going to be gone for anytime more than a day. In regards to the forums, I'm not incredibly stringent in my style of leadership, though just about every idea passes by me at some point or another before they come to fruition. I do just about all of the CSS work (self-teaching, so bear with me), with Chaz popping in to help from time to time. I'm also an avid written RolePlayer, so you can expect to find me hanging around the boards that deal with those. You will find me particularly held to any Freikorps and Riftweavers RPs that are running, since I'm a high ranking member of both groups. I can hold my own in a debate, but generally have a difficult time collecting my thoughts together into an argument that's both logical and valid, and hence tend to shy away from the Serious Debate board unless there's a topic that really lights a fire under me, at which point I'll probably watch the thread like a hawk until it dies. I will not however, shy away from serious discussions regarding forum policies and procedures. I'm hit and miss in the Library, but if you ever want my comments on anything you post there, just shoot me a PM or IM and I'll read through it and make what comments I can. I'm not the most brilliant critic though, so just take what you can get from me and be happy. ![]() I thoroughly enjoy spriting, more or less permanently stuck in the transition phase between splicing and full custom work. I'm also learning my own way around GIMP as I go, tinkering and experimenting with it as I go, and all the banners used in the various skins are by moi. Do take a look at all the skins when you have the chance and let me know what you think of them in total; I encourage any C&C anyone has to offer on any work that I do. As far as enforcing the rules, I won't be the one screaming at you unless you're just too thick to get the point by the third time in a month. At that point, yeah, I'll be pretty pissed off. I tend to ban people when they piss me off for no reason. I will listen to any reasons you give me though, and will try to work with you, given that you don't behave like a complete moron. We have a word around here: Blackenating, which in essence means being an extremely hard-ass staffer. I'll defer to Cata in being the best at that when the situation calls for it, but I'll claim runner-up. I'll wrap things up with a few miscellaneous facts: -Born and live in Kentucky. I love it, but hate the stereotypes outsiders assign to it. I'll tell you something: Central Kentucky, where I live, more closely resembles Ohio in culture than it does the Kentucky stereotype. You want that, go to Appalachia. Or Tennessee. -6'5" (~195.5 cm), with blonde hair and blue eyes. Primary ethnicities are Polish and Hungarian, though German, and Dutch are also present to a lesser degree, and English, and Native American have a single digit percentage in there somewhere. Both paternal grandparents are Polish, maternal grandfather is straight up Hungarian, and the witch's brew comes from my maternal grandmother. -My favourite subject is history. Used to be science, but I started to shy away from that during my highschool years. I despise math. But anyways, that's me. ![]() [Exeunt] |

[Enter CATAPHRAK, Stage Left, dressed in casual clothes. Lights up Downstage Center as he walks up to the edge of the apron.] Hello. I'm the most junior of the three Comm administrators. I usually handle damage control, contests and the general psychological maintenance of the forum, that is, I try to do the best I can to keep everyone following the rules, and take the time to modify the rules if they prove to lax or constrictive. My real name is Paul. Usually, if Ethan and Chaz aren't on, I will be. I check the forum on a regular basis looking for trouble spots and I'm always open to communication over the Private Messaging System or MSN. Feel free to send me a PM if I'm not online. If Chaz and Zeth are the heart and mind of the administration staff, then I'd be the arms. While Zeth keeps the forum working, and Chaz keeps them civil, I make sure that they are lawful and ordered. As Zeth has already mentioned, I am the resident hardass when it comes to rules. I like to think of myself as a relatively fair judge, seeing as I'm really, really hard to piss off. I try to be tolerant to people to break rules once or people who just got lost on their way in, but when it comes to people flouting regulations intentionally, then the hammer WILL come down, and don't complain to anybody else if it does, I am usually the most even tempered admin and chances are, if I'm punishing you, you've already pissed the Root off. Like Zeth, I am also a frequent role player. I'm the creator and one of the main characters in Infinity's Blades the largest RP on the boards as of this moment. I've been RPing for about four years now, and I've gotten pretty good at it and writing in general. You can find some of my non-RPing works in the Library, including the first draft of the third of my one-act plays. Most of my other hobbies are similarly artistic, I am to digital art, what Anne is for traditional art, and I'm pretty proficient in painting in Photoshop and I can sprite pretty well, up to and including small full customs. Criticism is always welcome, positive, negative, I don't care, as long as you explain why and how to fix it, then I'll accept it as a genuine opinion and not as flaming. I'm also head of the senior RP group on the boards, the Freikorps, leading to an interesting situation where Zeth works for me, but I answer to him. Most of the Freikorps canon universes (Baseline, VC2, Echo-3) were of my design. As such, I have a lot of experience world building, and I hold a little bit of vitriol in my heart for anyone who builds an RP/story world shoddily, and thinks he can get away with it. As a future Political Science major, I try to be as active in the Serious Discussion board as I can. My posts can usually be destinguished as being the rather large walls of text among the shorter posts. I prefer to debate about international relations and social issues domestically, though I do sometimes enter any other topic that piques my interest. Now that's over with, I suppose some random information is in order: -I was born in China, and I moved away when I was four years old. I've lived in New York State, Ontario and Quebec. I currently live in a suburb of Vancouver, British Columbia, and I DO fit a lot of the stereotypes outsiders assign to it. Yes, I am upper-middle class, yes I am decent with computers, yes, I can draw, but no, I don't vote Hard Left and I don't hug trees or smoke pot during the entirety of daylight hours. -I"m 180 cm (~5'11'), 135 pounds, black hair, brown eyes, which is pretty much expected when you're a first generation Chinese-Canadian. Unlike most people here, my ethnicity is bland and uninteresting. -Having lived through some of the most xenophobic parts of the developed world (Being an English speaking immigrant in Quebec is like being an Arabic speaking Mexican in Texas.) I have a... unique stance on racism. I do not tolerate it, but I also don't tolerate people trying to use it as a platform to bitch when they don't have any right to. -Yes, I'm Canadian, yes I spell words with the "u" Americans tend to forget. No, I do not live in an ice-house, no I do not append "eh" to the end of my spoken sentences, and no, I am not a pushover. (unlike our current government) -My favourite subject is also history, ironically, while Zeth's specialty is Asian history, mine is European. I also despise math. [CATAPHRAK exits SR] [Blackout] |

[Voiceover?] Hola/Bonjour/Konichiwa (or Ohaiyo, or Konbanwa, depending on when you're reading this)/Hallo/Hello I'm Anne, and because I'm paranoid and have a slightly uncommon name, you may call me Anne. I'm a moderator. I'm also Cata's opposite, and pretty relaxed when it comes to rules. If you break one, I'll usually just send a PM to you. If it's obvious that you're just being an idiot, we have a nifty little warning system and I do hold some small amount of power. I'm the resident artistish, which means I might not hold the necessary qualifications for the title artist, but I like to pretend I am. I stick strictly to traditional art, and if you ever do want advice on a piece, I'm willing to give a critique. But beware, I'm not that good at critiques, since most of my suggestions come in the form of sound effects. And I still have room to improve myself. Still, if I find out you have any interest in art whatsoever, I'll probably end up pestering you to post stuff in the Hall of Fine Art. Hey, I like Jackson Pollock, so no matter how bad it is, I won't care. Seriously, I could compliment a stick man. If you don't like something of mine, I expect reasons. If you just show up and say "that sux, my dog could do better," I'll just ignore you. No reason making a big deal out of it when the rest of the board knows you're an idiot. If you say "I LOVE THIS!!!" then I'll usually just say thanks and move on. Reasons would be nice, but I'm not going to chew you out for not knowing what makes it pretty. ![]() Unlike a good deal of the people on the Comm, I don't participate in RPs, nor will I ever. I'm a terrible writer, so I draw instead. I tend to steer clear of the RP board entirely. As far as Serious Debate goes... I'm scared of it. If I know a lot on the subject and think someone is wrong, I might speak up once or twice but that's it. I do enjoy reading the debates, though. My favorite subjects to debate and/or discuss are social and philosophical issues. I don't say much in the Library because I'm not a writer. Now if we ever get onto the subject of Vonnegut, I could write a thesis. Random Information Time! -I also currently live in Kentucky, but I don't hold a very high opinion of it. It's because of Walmart on the first of every month that I lean to the right when it comes to social welfare/disability checks/etc. Outside of economic policy and my precious second amendment right, I'm a liberal. But, I have met "hillbillies" before, and their stereotype is a disgrace to their true character. The ones I've met have a very strong work ethic, high morals, and pride in their heritage combined humility in their every day lives. And then I've met their total opposites who live in a double-wide eating twinkies paid for by the U.S. government, who believe it's their right to be lazy even though they're perfectly capable of working. -I exist. My looks shouldn't matter to you, so don't ask. I'm an Appalachian mutt, which means I come from here, there and everywhere if you go back far enough. -If I go North, they crinkle up their noses and say I'm a Southerner, as if it was the same as saying I'm racist. If I go South, they all crinkle of their noses and say I'm a Northerner, as if it's the same as saying I'm a Nazi. If it was up to me, I'd say I was a Southerner. Insult the South, and I will fight back. -My favorite subject is Art, but I'm also interested in U.S. History. I hate math with a fiery passion. |

So children, what have we learned? Never post math topics in Serious Debate and expect to see a staffer. |

Well, Hello everyone. I'm Inuit, the second Moderator hereabouts. I specialize in the RolePlay section. I've been fairly inactive as of late, but starting now, that's about to change. Which is great for you, because that means you get to see more and more of me and my eccentricities until you'll want to run to the nearest insanity ward. Not really, no. Listen to me rant enough, and you might come close, but I'll try my best to never actually drive you that far. I'm not quite Cata's opposite, but I'm closer in personality to Ethan and Anne. If you like philosophy, just message up me or Anne, or both of us, and we'd be glad to chat with you. As for the rules, it depends. I try to come down pretty hard on necroposting, and I come down hard on flaming or trolling of any kind. See the link up there, the Communishyfen Code of Honor? I'd suggest you read it, learn it, and love it. I stick to it, and if you break it, I won't break you, but there is a handy warning button, and I'll make sure you get some sort of punishment. If the offense is your first, or minor, I'll pm you, or you can message me on MSN or AIM. I'm the resident Goddess (see username), and also the resident Owner of the Magical Fridge. When you arrive here, I'll be there to greet you with my Magical Fridge, and some Root Beer. Don't bother trying to get an explanation of how the Magical Fridge works. It just does. I don't actually hang out much around the Front Lobby much. Mostly The Library, Section 8, and the RP Sim. If you like writing, I WILL pester you until you post something in The Library and join a roleplay. Roleplaying is good for your soul. I enjoy writing, and I really need to get off my bum and get some more writing done. Random Info Time! - I live in New England, but that's as close as you'll get. I love it up here, but the winter's are a bit too cold for my liking. If you're ever in need of beauty in the fall, just some up here, in October or early November. The trees are stunning. Also, don't get me talking about the trees and such during the fall. I might talk your ears off... I live in a small town, but I don't really fit any stereotypes, which means I don't fit any stereotypes that might exist about small-town rural girls who run around in the woods barefoot (and consequently hop around not-swearing vehemently for a few minutes every so often). - If you want to know what I look like, go look in the Darkroom. I'm one of the shortest people on here, but that's all I'll tell you about my height. I get enough grief from Ethan. - I can be stubborn as all heck, but I'm pretty open minded about things when it comes to other people. I'm liberal, but according to most of my friends, I'm more of an anarchist than anything. -My favorite subjects are History, Philosophy, and Writing (if that counts as a subject). I'm interested in most everything, including Quantum Physics as of late. I, honestly, really like math. If I know what to do, it's actually quite fun. When you solve an equation, it's like "Ha! Take THAT, equation! I beat you!" Only with more intelligent phrasing, of course. I'm just not very good at math, and it bores me sometimes, due to it's lack of debate that can be involved. --- I'd show up in the math topic, but I would fail miserably, most likely... I suppose I aught to introduce myself as well. I am Chaz the second of the standard Admins. You'll note that I typically play the role of peacemaker, trying to sort out the problems before they become too big with a healthy dose of information, trying to clear up both sides points. You'll also likely note, looking to the left, that I'm not as active as the other staff members are. This may or may not be accurate, depending on your take. I usually reserve comment until I both have enough information, and think that my words will help, outside of Section 8, where I usually let the sarcasm fly. Also, I'm probably the most minimalistic of the Staff. As for enforcing rules, they're pretty clear cut. you break them, you get a punishment. If you need help, on the other hand, I can usually find a solution to many problems, so just send me a line. My activities in the forum are as such. I usually stay out of the Serious discussion unless I feel that someone really isn't getting something, or that a crucial point is being missed, not that I can't debate, but I usually come here to not have to commit my self to serious contemplation. I'm usually never here, in the greetings section. While information is nice, a lot of it is invalid, so I get to know you via your posts in the main sections. I keep pages on pretty much all the rest of the forum, on the other hand. About me: Chaz is likely the closest to my name that I will give you, so lets stay at that, and I live in Canada. Currently I'm in college studying to become a library information technician, on my basis that a healthy spread of information will solve many of the problems which a person might face, and perhaps I might continue on to take a full degree in library sciences. It can also be gleamed from my screen name that I am a King Arthur nut, though I have more interests than would be healthy to list. I get bored easily. Oh, and when you hear about how the staff is lazy, really it's just me. |
