Name: Sir Caius Leonis
Age: 30
Gender: Male
Nationality: Terran Human
Position/Rank/Occupation:
- Nobleman (Duke of Wulfram and Viscount of Xen)
- Military Officer (Leftenant General in the Terran Royal Army)
- Politician (Member of the Terran Parliament)
Alignment: Lawful Neutral, verging possibly on Lawful Evil
Archetypes:
- Magnificent Bastard
- Anti-Villain
- Four Star Badass
- Heroic Sociopath
...to name a few...

Appearance:
Caius of Xen is a tall, thin man with dark brown hair, piercing black eyes and a prominent nose. When in private or in public, he usually appears in his field grey Royal Army duty uniform. This uniform, at it's base consists of heavy cloth tunic and trousers, with a single red stripe down the legs to denote his nominal position within the Dragoons. These are garnished by a pair of high topped, brass buttoned cavalry boots, a thick sword belt and a series of ammunition pouches and holsters, all made of black leather and polished to a fine gloss. This is all topped by his characteristic and very flamboyant wide brimmed hat, made of black leather and holding in it's band, one very large blue peacock feather. In the rain or snow, the General is not above wearing a heavy grey overcoat trimmed with the fox fur accorded to him as Duke of Wulfram.
Here's a Picture

Equipment:
Caius is armed at all times, and his typical weapons load out is probably the equivalent of a walking armoury. At most times, he carries his six Garing-Essen Mk II revolvers, each chambered for enormous .400 rifle rounds along with a plain rapier, hilt and guard unadorned, but inlaid with silver and with a ruby set as a pommel. The sword's main feature is it's puresteel (chromium steel) blade, a rare type of metal which projects a small aura capable of neutralizing magic. In times of extreme danger, Caius will also carry several knives and daggers concealed on his person and a simple steel headed wood hatchet.

Personality:
The usual first impression of Caius of Xen is that he is extremely high strung. While he is indeed, quite tense at most times, it is not the nervous energy which most people associate with tension, but a sort of alertness which can, and indeed, usually is coupled with a sense of cool, commanding calm. He maintains this aloof and somewhat superior expression at most times, only letting his guard down a little when surrounded by his immediate senior staff. Due to his constant alertness, Caius is easily capable of picking up bits of information that others ignore and fitting them into his myriad plans and plots, both on and off the battlefield, stratagems which he executes with flawless precision and skill.

Note: As a member of the Terran Nobility, Caius speaks with what Baseline would consider a Recieved Pronounciation (BBC) english accent.

Biography:
Born to a family of impoverished nobility best known for their diplomats, Caius was raised on the family estate on the island of Xen which was constantly battered by storms and high seas. From an early age, Caius learned quickly to remain calm in situations that would reduce normal children to tears. This, along with the diplomatic training that all scions of the Leonis family received gave him incredible composture at a very young age.

At the age of 14, Caius entered the Terran Army as a professional soldier. His magedead status meant it was impossible for him to squire to a knight of the realm, but his family did buy him a commission as a very junior officer in the merchant cavalry. Caius was still somewhat unsure of his training after less than two months of instruction, but when Terra went to war against the Antar League, Caius was shipped off with the rest of his regiment to fight on distant islands to the north.

Leading a troop of light cavalry, the unexperienced Coronet Caius Leonis was assigned to a squadron scouting for the main column. On his third day in the warzone he was ordered to relieve a small unit of pikemen holed up in a ruined farm house. Unable to free the besieged soldiers through a frontal charge, the young officer came up with the bright idea of using both his troop's fast horses and an untested, unreliable new weapon to break the encirclement.

Riding up on the ring of Antar attackers at full speed, each of Caius' riders pulled out their pistols and fired at the enemy. The young cavalry officer's gamble paid off; the pistols didn't kill many of the attackers, but the loud flashes and noise scared off half the Antar force, while the other half took off after Caius' horsemen, allowing the trapped Terran infantry to escape.

Caius remained at the front for more than ten years. Over the years, the cavalry officer won more and more distinction with his increasingly refined tactics involving the new advancements in gunpowder and the traditional lance and shield style. He won a promotion to Captain and command of a squadron after eight years in service, becoming the youngest of the kingdom's senior commanders.

At the age of 26, Caius suddenly recieved news that his father, the reigning Viscount of Xen, had died. Obeying his family obligation, he quickly returned to Terra. A bit of research found that the officer in command of those pikemen that he had rescued so long ago happened to be the eldest son of the Terra's chancellor, the Earl of Weathearn. After pulling a few strings, Caius walked away from the royal army with a knighthood, enough prize money to pay for the discharge and pension of his entire company and the bronze circlet of a Viscount of Terra.

It only took Caius six months to become bored of his duties. He was magedead, which meant he could not sit in the court. He soon found himself wishing that he had stayed in the army. When he returned to the capital to request his commission back, he learned that the war had been won, and Terra no longer required his services. Where most would have given up, the young viscount saw oppurtunity. Using the rest of his prize money, Caius quickly hired up a motley collection of discharged soldiers. ne'er do wells, drifters and the remnants of his old unit, he formed the Mobius Legion; a mercenary company perfectly capable of going where the royal army could not.

After several years of supposed service to the highest bidder (but in reality, only to Terra and her allies), the Mobius Legion found itself embroiled in a deteriorating political situation with the elevation of Princess Isabella to the throne of Terra as Queen Isobel I. With a large faction of the nobility (covertly backed by factions of the Takaran government) planning to overthrow the new Queen, Caius acted fast, drawing on his connections from many years of service in the Royal Army to bolster the loyalist cause. By the time the standoff turned into a full civil war, a large majority of the Royal Army and Navy were staunchly loyalist. Within a month, the rebellion was crushed, it's Takaran backer and Terran toadies were decorating the heads of pikes, and Caius had not only been given his commission back, but a promotion to Leftenant General and elevation to the Duchy of Wulfram, one of the most powerful fiefs in the Unified Kingdom.

Over the last two years, Caius has turned Wulfram into an industrial and military powerhouse. After disbanding the Mobius Legion, he used it's remnants to form a New Model Army, a force devoted to using the newest and most effective tactics and weaponry any enemy which Terra might have found itself arrayed against. To support this new and massive military formation, he has revolutionized the way in which industry and armies were organized, introducing mass production, interchangeable parts, mechanized rifling and the constitutional monarchy in an amazingly short period of time. Many wonder if Caius' sense of drive and progress are driven by some sort of rabid patriotism, or because of some cold, calculating master plan which he has yet to reveal to the world...

Name: Cassius von Holt
Age: 82
Gender: Male
Race/Nationality: Takaran Elf
Position/Rank/Occupation:
- Nobleman (Current Viceroy of Eastern Butea [Holt Territory])
- Military Officer (Viceroy is synonymous with the rank of Khan in the Imperial Army. The New Imperial Army is indoctrinated enough to look to him or Erramine only for leadership. Good or bad? Do the math.)
- Politician (High Member of the Takaran Imperial Court)
- Scholar (Innovative Mage in Takara and from a family formerly known as historians)
Alignment: Chaotic Neutral (I think?)
Archetype:
- Anti-Villian
- Magnificent Bastard
- Evil Chancellor
- The Smart Guy (Debateable, he’s also a Rash Guy)
- Chivalrous Pervert
- White Haired Pretty Boy

Equipment:
An arcane katana (retconned from a kodachi) by the name of Artemis and with a black and red colour scheme is always at Cassius' hip, and besides swordplay, allows for an extension of Cassius' magical will via the runes emblazoned on its silver blade. It was made by Cassius himself, and was his old crowning achievement, given the relative simplicity of the runes but versatility in magical use. Formerly, Cassius was taken to carrying a mildly enchanted bow name Diana, which he won in a bet from William Paulus von Takara, but anymore, that's been entirely replaced by his also custom made, and new crowning achievement, Rydberg Pistol. Should he ever find his shortcut past magical dead fields, it could very likely be his mot powerful asset. It's a big if.

Appearance:
Cassius is a lithe and sinewy individual who is a could degree stronger than he looks, owing to his elven ethnicity. He stands at exactly 187 centimetres, and is about 72.5 kg. His hair is a pedigree blonde; perfect enough to make Hitler beam with pride, as he undoubtedly would over Cassius deep blue eyes. His skin tone is acceptably tan for an elf, but paler than your average human's, again owing to his elven heritage. He often keeps his hair in a slicked back way, with some feathering out from his slight widow's peak, which is fairly stereotypical considering his personality and general attitude to life. His wardrobe is diverse and expensive--but he ignores it if he's not in Court. His main attire is composed of comfortably worn, previously course shirt over a silkier undershirt and a cloak or cape. There is always a collar. Colours include lots of red, white, brown, and black, and not a lot else. His boots are a lower cut than a pair of jackboots, but the tough, dark brown leather is higher up the calf than your commoners’ shoes.

Personality:
While most would view Cassius as a base, callous person with little regard to morals and grandiose schemes and ambitions, he has not forgotten the grace and honour that his race is naturally imbued with. Actually, he'll never EVER fail to remind you that he is better than you. He is cultured (per se) and learned, and can be deceptively well mannered if he wants to be. He doesn't often want to be. This doesn't mean that he holds mercy or kindness in any large degree though, and would have no qualms with running a former colleague through the back if they turn traitor. The best way to describe Cassius though, is by noting his larger-than-life attitude and sometimes rather maniacal behaviour. Whether it be everyday actions, or in the midst of battle, Cassius has a demanding presence and a flare for the theatrical. One thing that does tend to humanize Cassius though, is his love for art. And it doesn't matter what art it is. Singing, painting, magical feats, archery, poetry, and dancing are all of worth to him, as is nature, which art is often inspired by, despite his apparent lack of regard for other such "trivial" things. And despite his otherwise crass and holier-than-thou demeanour, he has no problem showing this off. He actually flaunts it to a degree, and can't resist putting on a show, whether wanted or not. And by no means will Cassius hold back from speaking his mind, even if it is touches on some things others may regard as taboo. He sees a hot girl, he'll call it. He thinks the Captain-General is being a moron, he'll say it. The King of a powerful foreign power has their fly open and it's driving him crazy? Well, he'd probably restrain himself out of tact and honour, but he sure would consider it.

He's somewhat in a state of flux after his extended stay with death though, and elements of a genuinely good person peek through once in a while. How long will that last? Probably until he gets to hanging around with humans again.

Biography:
Being of the elven race present in Takara, 82 years puts Cassius as a young person. If likened to a human life scale, you might liken him to someone in their mid-twenties. He was raised as a companion to the Takaran Empire's prince, who is now the Lord-Emperor. Though not of noble birth himself, this fact of his upbringing makes it seems as if he is indeed of royal lineage. Until he was about 60 he was in constant attendance with the prince, and was more than a mere servant (though, in all honesty that's technically what he was). He was also a page, and the closest friend the young prince had. The prince himself--as well as the royal family overall--had been kind to the Holt's, and after over 100 years of service to the Emperor, Cassius's father had been dismissed from his official position of "servant" and been given a very small lordship, making the Holt's the von Holt's.

Cassius, overall, has had a roller-coaster childhood. He was only 11 when his mother kicked the bucket from a disease that started making itself evident at the time his sister was born and turned aggressive. So he was raised by his father and family servant (oh the irony) for the duration of his childhood. His father, Maximillion von Holt was a very harsh, stern person, who was good at what he did but tolerated little within his own fold. So while Cassius was raised with a strong regard for discipline and order--and can appreciate it well enough--he's prone to rebel at times. Then again, you probably would too if your father's idea of a hard punishment was actually holding your left hand in an open flame, then healing only the skin, muscles, and the bare minimum of nerves to prevent crippling the appendage so you're left with nothing but the pain. Lloyd Elbe was the more compassionate father figure in Cassius' life, but Cassius never really jumped on that bandwagon as Serenity did. Lloyd has always been his first and foremost--and most taken for granted--servant to Cassius.

The brighter times in his childhood came from his intensive sword-training with a katana, and what praise he received for being a magical prodigy even amongst the elves. It wasn't that he was especially powerful amongst other mages, but Cassius was adept at exploiting shortcuts, and could devise relatively simple, quick spells to accomplish tasks normally taking precious minutes in a duel. In other words, "a natural." Too bad this would later spoil him, since military tactics and politics rarely allow for the same shortcuts you can take with a spell, and his impatience makes it difficult for him to sit down and really think for hours at a time. Is he capable? Yes, and he had to do so for a long time.

By the time he was in 40s, Cassius was tired of being the occasionally crude, but mostly embittered and studious Lordling son, and took off from the family estate. His father accepted it, and said he could come back as often as he wanted, as long as he didn't make a habit of coming back merely to fill his personal coffers--he'd have to make his own living. So Cassius drifted about the Takaran Imperial Army as a low-ranking commander settling squabbles and disputes within the Empire before setting out to sea with the universally known elven trade patrols, actually helping people who met tragedy along the trade routes on the Milky Sea. Pirates, navies, feuding merchant guilds, he's seen all those things. Perhaps that's why he overcame his distaste with the human species overall and found his way into the Mobius Legion in time for his 80th birthday.

With the Legion, Cassius was more or less hated, but what the Captain-General regarded as an "evil necessity," Cassius excelled at, and easily made it to a higher rank amid the small Special Unit of mages, accompanied by Lloyd Elbe, by now his seemingly eternal personal slave, and Lloyd's brother Tannis, whose joining is still a mystery to Cassius, even after Tannis' death.

After getting his guts ripped up in the Terran Civil War, Cassius returned home to a dead father, an inherited title, a wife, and political chaos. His helping to smooth over the immediate conservative vs reformist political turmoil (partially due to pistol diplomacy), played right into his hands, and the reforms he favoured because of his increasing rivalry of his old employer, Caius of Xen, began slowly turning to reality. Slowly being the key word there.

If Antar rises, it means that Terra falls down. - Mikhail Khorobrit, Magnate of Khorograd

Age 46

Physical Description:

Gray hair, icy blue eyes, stereotypical Russian beard. 6 ft, 2 in. tall. Weighs 200lbs, (or thee serfs)

Alignment: Neutral Evil

Bio:

Mikhail Khorobrit is a man of unrelenting drive and ambition, willing to sacrifice everything that isn’t his in his quest for power. In short, he is a megalomaniac The second son of the Magnate of Khorograd, Mikhail was supposed to go into the priesthood while his brother Ivan inherited the family castle, army, and Congress seat when, to Mikhail’s great relief, Ivan died of smallpox, allowing Mikhail to inherit the keys to the kingdom.

As the new heir, Mikhail was withdrawn from seminary school and given a place of great responsibility in his father’s household. When the Dozen Years War broke out, his father gave him the Khorobrit family army and told to go and make a name for himself, Suprisingly, the inexperienced Mikhail proved to be a competent enough commander after a bloody “trial and error” process in the beginning, and actually managed to win one of the few Antari victories in the Dozen Years War by forcing a Terran army into the open and destroying it.

When the Dozen Years War ended in complete failure, Mikhail returned to his father’s estate and waited a frustratingly long time for the old man to die. Eventually, the former Magnate of Khorograd rolled over and died and Mikhail inherited his position as Magnate. As Magnate, he quickly established a reputation for demagoguery, appealing to the national shame of being defeated by the Terrans by ending each speech with “Terra MUST be destroyed!”

(IE: And that is why I believe the tax rate should be increased 0.2%. In conclusion, Terra must be destroyed.)

While Mikhail’s unceasing call for an attack on Terra is well known, and popularly supported by hundreds of Magnates, only a select few know the reason behind his crusade. Mikhail leads a clandestine think tank known by its members as “The Group of Twelve.” The Twelve are a secretive group of highly ambitious Magnates who have agreed to overthrow the old order and rule Antar together. While the Twelve ideologically justify this amongst themselves by saying that Antar needs a centralized authority for it to be a major power, the truth is that they are just a bunch of unscrupulous cutthroats hungry for power. The Group of Twelve plan on provoking a war with Tierra, while using their armies solely for defensive actions and light skirmishes while the other magnates deplete their forces in a pointless war.

Then, with their enemies, (both foreign and domestic) weakened by constant fighting, the Group of Twelve can seize control of Antar with their undepleted armies and forge a new order for the glory of the Motherland. (And themselves.) Okay, well mostly themselves.

Family:

Ana (Wife, deceased, would be 40.)
Despite being a thoroughly evil son of a bitch, Mikhail really loved his wife, and refuses to remarry, despite his lack of a male heir.

Alexandra (Daughter, Age 22)
The one person Mikhail really loves, Alexandra (or Sasha as her father calls her) looks almost exactly like her mother, causing Mikhail to be very overprotective over her and completely blind to her faults. Though normally soft-spoken and gentle, when angered, her capacity for profanity is rivaled only by her father.

Yelezevita (Sister, Age 42)
Short and plump, she isn’t a looker, nor is she particularly intelligent. She is only food at good three things; cooking, cleaning and having babies, which is all her husband, Viktor Jughashvil, wants her to do anyway.

Friends/Allies/Acquaintances

Iosif Tolstoy
Served with Mikhail during the dozen years war as his second in command. Handles the day to day running of the Khorobrit army.

Viktor Jughashvil
Fellow Magnate and member of the Group of Twelve. Has a knack for backstabbing. His wife makes great pie. Has holdings in steel-rich Northern Antar, and has been supplying Mikhail with weapons ever since he gave him his sister’s hand in marriage.

Tropes:
Magnificent Bastard
Lzherusskie
Beard Of Evil
Take Over The World
Xanatos Gambit

Question: Can we edit our character profiles to include the bios of additonal NPCs as they appear?
