Shut up, I know what I'm doing.

Yup, that's right. After nearly 11 months, I'm starting a new art contest and let me be the first to say well, it's about friggin' time.

This time, the subject will be FANART, that's to say, art from a franchise (be it literary, televised or taking up valuable game cabinet real-estate) which you particularly like or particularly want to draw. Submissions must be PMed to me by the 31st of October, which gives you roughly two weeks to but together a piece of art from whatever fandom you want (and I mean ANYTHING, you can even use your own ones (although I'm limiting those to RPs and RP groups on The Comm) if you want. Go ahead and use any medium you want, be it traditional ink and paper or an unholy lovechild of metal sculpture, Elizabethan sonnet and Photoshop filters. If you (like me) have midterms or any other sort of thing like that, I WILL allow an extension up until the 3rd of November as long as you tell me by the 29th of October.

Voting will begin on the 4th of November and will last until the 11th, which brings me to the new voting system, designed to maximize convenience as well as the responsibility of both the artist and the voter.

Voters post in the corresponding thread and give a flat percentage. It is suggested that you start at 50% and then add or take away points based on what you liked and what you didn't like, things like artistic ability, references, faithfulness to canon (if applicable), originality and so on. That being said, you can choose to display any factors that have affected your vote along with how much they affected your vote if you choose to, however, this is not mandatory. If you want, you can simply assign an arbitrary number, be careful doing this however as a safeguard mechanism has been included:

At the end of the voting period, the artist can demand an explanation from any (up to and including all) voter whom he feels has judged unfairly. The voters in question then have until midnight on the 14th to try to explain his rating to the artist's satisfaction. If the voter does not respond at all, then his vote is disqualified. Similarly, if, at the end of this period, the artist is still not satisfied, he may choose to disqualify ONE (and only one) vote. The entry with the highest average score will be declared the winner and will be announced as such on the 15th.

Once again, I will be calling my shots. I'm entering two pieces, one from a little-known PC RPG called Arcanum: Of Steamworks and Magick Obscura, the other from The Comm's (and my own, for that matter) very own Tales of the Infinite Sea.

So, who's up for unleashing their fansquee?

I'll have a go. Hopefully I should manage to create at least one picture in two weeks.

It's a good source of potassium!

Hm, if I'm allowed to finish pieces I started forever ago and just never finished, I guess I'll toss my hat into the ring. Especially after I couldn't participate in the Writing Contest.

Mind you, this time, I WILL be playing to win. (and not playing to be a snooty frenchman like during the writing contest)

I'm not artistically inclined but I'm definitely going to enter something using Paint just to see how it does.

Alright, results are in and I'm surprised nobody wanted to challenge any of the more arbitrary votes. Anyways, the average scores (in the case of more than one entry per person, the highest one is here) have been tallied up and we have;

Inuit with 51.6%
Dino with 68%
Yours Truly with 74.4%

So yeah... I win again...

Personally, I'd prefer another short story contest over an art contest, though that may have something to do with the fact that a mentally retarded chimpanzee could draw a better representation of the human form than me.
