My son, Ian, returned from a four week holiday in Japan on Friday, and brought me as a souvenir a CD of a live orchestral concert of FInal Fantasy music and a can of FFXIII elixir with a picture of Snow on it. And since the holiday didn't cost him quite as much as he had budgeted for, on Saturday he bought a 42" plasma TV for when he goes back to uni, and I'm currently watching him play Tekken 6 on it while I eat breakfast.

Since he's brought his 360 (plus games) home with him and Nic's no longer works, I'm hoping to take the opportunity to try out Tekken 6 and FFXIII while he's here for the summer. (If I can ever get on it. So far it's been in use almost constantly by Ian, Nic, or Ian's friends.)

One advantage to growing up in an asian family; your mother doesn't challenge your monopoly on the gaming PC. :D

Hehe. I think even the average Western (or at least British) family doesn't have to share games with Mum (though they may have to share with Dad). None of my peers have any interest in gaming, and one of my colleagues, whose husband and daughters like Tekken, describes it as "a horrible game". :P

I managed to get my mom addicted to Zoo Tycoon for a little while, and once I turned on the GBA to find that my copy of The Minish Cap inexplicably had a save file where Link was named "Mark", which is my dad's name. But that's been about it.

It's my brother I really have to fight for the video games. And he always ends up winning, too.

Well, now he's at college, so you don't really have to worry about that much anymore.

No, somehow he manages it from college, too.

I don't know how. It baffles me.

Stuff has happened since I last posted here. School's back in session. I got older. I got a black Washburn X-series (look it up; it's super-pretty). We jumped right in with drama, too; we started auditions on our first day back, for Arsenic and Old Lace. I made callbacks; tomorrow the cast list should be up.

Well, cast list wasn't up today. Should be tomorrow, says Mrs. Flara.

Cast list was up. I got double-cast as Mortimer Brewster and Officer O'Hara.
And anyone who hasn't seen today's xkcd should. Particularly the alt-text. Emily Dickinson will never be the same again.

The children's holiday club that I was involved in is now over. It was pretty exhausting (not least, clearing everything away again at the end), but I think it went pretty well. Our theme was space, and one of the helpers brought his telescope in today. Couldn't use it to look at stars (since it was daytime :P ) but he had an attachment for bringing closer things into focus, and the children loved having a go.

This afternoon we're off to Ikea to get supplies for Nic for when he moves into his dorm at uni.

So, today there was a 10-hour game of Humans vs. Zombies on Berea College's campus. It was my first time playing and I found out about it at 10:00 this morning. It was my first time playing. By 6:20 there were 7 humans left (I was one of them), and by 6:30 there was one human left.

Me.

It was fun.
